What is the Faery Faith?
Increasingly over the past 20 years, eco-spirituality and practice has embraced building relationships with other-than-human beings called the Faery people. But who exactly are the Fey? And what is our role and relationship to them?
Although there is still much debate in animism circles about the Fey (are they dangerous, capricious, or simply misunderstood), nevertheless benevolent relationships have been and continue to be built with them folk. Traditionally, this was understood as the Faery Faith—rituals, practices, and beliefs centered around our co-creative relationship with these otherworldly cousins.
The Faery Faith is an animistic spirituality that is participatory in nature. It is centered around contact with other-than-human intelligences that live at the various strata of Earth's consciousness. Its folklore and customs are generally believed to be one of the remnants of a pre-Christian, indigenous spirituality here in the West.
Course description
In this self-study course, Dr. Rose will share her 20+ years of research as a practitioner-scholar of the Faery Faith. By re-framing some of the common misconceptions around who these beings are, she will ground Faery contact within a solid psychological and spiritual context. She will address some of the folkloric Faery traditions around the world, discuss the relevance of the Faery faith in contemporary practice, and clarify the ways in which you might work with the Fey in a safe and sane way.Â
She will also share specific practices from her Faery Seership lineage, which is rooted in the folk-traditions of Scotland and Southern Appalachia.
